Pfizer has announced that it will begin using its facility in Grange Castle Business Park to aid their Covid Vaccine supply chain. The Pharma giant will begin producing the mRNA component of the vaccine, which is used in manufacture outside of Ireland. The shift in production will create 75 new jobs and a $40m investment by the company. 

The enhancements are said to include expanding their existing facilities, adding more suppliers, and bringing on additional Pfizer/BioNTech sites and contract manufacturers around the world to produce the vaccine.

IDA Ireland CEO Martin Shanahan praised the recent announcement. He claims it shows huge confidence in the skills, capability and reputation of the Irish pharmaceutical industry. The move underlines the importance, capacity and growth of the biological sector in Ireland.
